Casey House redevelopment project reaches financial close

On March 6, 2015, Infrastructure Ontario and Casey House announced that the facility had signed a fixed-price contract with Bird Construction to build and finance their redevelopment project. All contractual steps have been completed and Bird Construction will begin to mobilize on site immediately.

Casey House was Canada’s first stand-alone treatment facility for people with HIV/AIDS when it opened in 1988. It is a specialty HIV/AIDS care facility that also offers community programming, including home care and outreach programs. The redevelopment project will provide more efficient, seamless HIV/AIDS health care by allowing for a new day health program and consolidating all current programs and services under one roof. This 58,000-square-foot project involves renovating an existing heritage property and the construction of a new facility.

Infrastructure Ontario is a crown agency of the Province of Ontario that delivers large, complex infrastructure renewal projects on time and on budget. Over the last six years, the province has applied Infrastructure Ontario’s alternative financing and procurement model to 83 major projects valued at approximately $38 billion.
