Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that Cyrus Reporter, former senior adviser to the Office of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has joined the firm as a partner practicing in the public policy and regulatory fields. Reporter will be located in the firm's Ottawa office.
With more than 25 years of high-ranking experience in both the public and private sectors - including ten years as counsel at another global law firm - Reporter will advise the firm's clients across multiple sectors on a range of matters with respect to public policy, and regulatory and ethics law.

Between 1994 and 2003, Reporter held several senior positions in the Government of Canada, including chief of staff to the federal ministers of health and industry, as well as to the minister of justice and attorney general of Canada.
He co-chaired the national public policy practice of another global law firm for more than a decade before assuming his most recent roles as chief of staff to the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and senior adviser to the prime minister in 2013 and 2015, respectively.

Outside of his political and legal careers, Reporter has remained an active member of the Ottawa community. In recent years, he has served as a director of the Indo Canada Ottawa Business Chamber and on the boards of Ottawa Community Immigration Services, the City of Ottawa Transit Commission and the Carleton University Board of Governors.
