Frances K. Macklin

Frances Macklin is counsel in the Financial Institutions & Services Group in the Toronto office of Gowling WLG. She has a transaction-based practice with an emphasis on acquisitions, dispositions and structured financings.

Frances has a broad range of experience as both a partner in private practice and corporate counsel. She represents both institutional and entrepreneurial clients. Her practice includes:

  • Asset and loan purchases and sales, including single assets and portfolios
  • Secured and unsecured traditional financing transactions representing lenders and borrowers
  • Non-traditional financings involving private equity funds (e.g. trusts and limited partnerships), and institutional and other investors (e.g. pension funds and similar non-taxable entities)
  • Construction lending
  • Enforcement of loan agreements and security including foreclosures of real and personal property, powers of sale and receiverships
  • Loan restructurings and forbearance agreements
