Peter D. Fairey

Peter Fairey is a senior corporate lawyer in the Vancouver office of Gowling WLG. He brings over 35 years of experience in corporate/commercial transactions, as well as a general knowledge of tax, securities, trusts and immigration law to his other areas of practice on behalf of clients in the P3, life sciences, entertainment, publishing, IT and alternative energy industries.

Peter's breadth of experience allows him to tackle any task effectively and to assemble and lead teams because he understands the issues and listens carefully to his clients' needs. The teams can vary depending on what is required and makes sense value-wise. Dedicated to successful results for his clients, Peter finds creative solutions and deploys the energy and resources necessary to achieve those.

Highly rated by major legal directories across a range of disciplines, Peter also instructs on corporate law subjects and authors a chapter of the leading company law text in British Columbia.   

Peter uses his abilities to help others and regularly serves on boards in the not for profit sector. He is a past director and chair of the Board of Directors of the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and a past governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia. He is currently a director of Prostate Cancer Foundation BC and The Arbutus Club, and serves on a Kidney Foundation of Canada special purpose committee, having himself donated a kidney to his son. Other organizations with which he has been involved in the past include the Canadian Diabetes Association, St. George’s School Foundation, Rugby Canada, BC Rugby, Canadian Association of Rhodes Scholars, as well as number of community baseball and ice hockey teams that he has coached.

An ice hockey player for over 50 years, Peter remains active and fit, pursuing squash, tennis and cycling.
