A "pristine viewscape" for investors? Tom Timmins considers the impact of Alberta's new renewable energy rules on CBC and CTV

Last week, Alberta's seven-month moratorium on renewable projects came to an end. At the same time, the province announced – in broad strokes – several new rules banning solar and wind development on prime agricultural lands, as well as within 35 km of "pristine viewscapes."

In back to back interviews with CBC and CTV, Thomas J. Timmins, leader of Gowling WLG's Energy Group in Canada, considered the impact of these changes on Alberta's energy investment landscape.

"Alberta hit pause in the midst of a growth curve, and Alberta was the No. 1 destination in Canada for solar investment," he told CBC. "It's hard to say [exactly what the impact will be at this stage, but Alberta remains a great place to invest]."
