02 May 2017

Partner Sheena Jacob has been appointed to the global board of iTechLaw, an international association that provides education and networking opportunities for lawyers.

Sheena will be the only board member with a base in Singapore and is appointed after successfully chairing the Asia Pacific meeting in Singapore last year. The conference in Singapore was only the second to focus on Asia-Pacific after it was first initiated in Australia in 2014.

Sheena enjoys a strong international reputation as one of Singapore's leading IP and Technology lawyers which is reinforced by her appointment to the board. As Singapore's only board member, she will be responsible for bringing a Singapore perspective to the iTechLaw's in-person board meetings, taking place prior to the World Technology Law Conference in May and the European Conference in October this year.

iTechLaw is the leading technology law organization and informs and educates lawyers about the unique legal issues arising from evolution, production, marketing, acquisition and use of information and communications technology. Its global membership base spans more than 60 countries and it provides in-depth examination of legal issues in the technology field.

On her appointment, Sheena said: "It is a privilege for me to serve on the global board of iTechLaw with its distinguished and accomplished leadership. As the sole member from Singapore, it is of course a proud moment for me. iTechLaw provides a fantastic platform for legal professionals in the technology area and I am looking forward to making a contribution to the efforts of the organization as a whole."

The appointment comes only a few months after international law firm Gowling WLG announced its exclusive association with JurisAsia LLC, a Singapore firm specialising in IP and corporate law, headed by Sheena Jacob.

JurisAsia LLC is an independent law practice affiliated to Gowling WLG (UK) LLP.
