Katrina Angliss helps clients to provide new homes.

Katrina advises house builders, affordable housing providers and private landowners, helping them to secure or dispose of land for residential development in the most advantageous way for them by seeking to understand all parties' priorities and working with them to get the deal done.

She handles land acquisitions and disposals; land assembly options and other strategic land acquisitions; consortium agreements and promotion appointments - in each case working with her clients to ensure the legal documentation achieves their commercial objectives.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1992, Katrina practised in London for a number of years before relocating to work in Birmingham in 2001.

Katrina is now based in the Housing Development and Regeneration team, she deals with a wide range of legal issues for house builders, affordable housing providers and private landowners. These include complex land acquisitions and disposals (often involving phased payments, overages and/or cost-saving sharing provisions); options and other strategic land acquisitions; consortium agreements and promotion appointments.

Experience

  • acquiring sites for house builders and affordable housing providers for development to provide new homes;
  • advising a major house builder in relation to development management agreements which provided for the completion of the construction of apartments situated above retail units and the provision of sales, marketing and management services to the landowner; and
  • working with a landowner to resolve complicated title and covenant issues to enable a contract to be exchanged for the sale of a key site.

She also has a wider knowledge of the real estate market having previously:

  • advised commercial developers on all aspects of the development process from site acquisition to the sale and letting of individual units and the structure and operation of estate management companies;
  • dealt with the acquisition and disposal of property portfolios for investor clients;
  • advised local authorities and other public sector clients regarding town and city centre development and regeneration projects;
  • advised regeneration agencies on the acquisition of contaminated land for clean-up and development; and
  • advised in relation to grant funding given to private developers, public sector bodies, charities and other third sector organisations.
