Darren Blimkie

Darren is a partner in the Advocacy Department of Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. His practice focuses on civil and administrative litigation in the areas of health law, professional liability and disciplinary matters. He both summered and articled at Gowling WLG.

Darren has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Small Claims Court. He has also appeared as counsel at various administrative tribunals, including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board. He also has experience assisting clients at settlement conferences and mediations.

Darren earned his JD from Queen's University, where he was awarded two course awards. He was the captain of the Queen's Law hockey team and the held the title of Male Athletic Representative throughout his studies. Prior to entering law school, Darren obtained his BSc in biopharmaceutical science at the University of Ottawa, earning Magna Cum Laude distinction. He also worked for four years in an immunology research laboratory at the University of British Columbia, where he published several peer reviewed articles on vaccine design, evaluation, and efficacy.

Darren volunteers for the Law Help Ontario program operated by Pro Bono Law Ontario. He is also a member of the County of Carleton Law Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
