Stuart Young

Stuart Young is a seasoned M&A lawyer with over 20 years' transaction experience. He uses this experience to provide commercial and pragmatic advice and to get deals done with the minimum of fuss. Clients appreciate Stuart's commercial approach, which allows them to focus on the most important and valuable issues without getting lost in the detail. Stuart is also head of our automotive group.

Every transaction is different and every client is different. It's the constant change that keeps Stuart interested in his clients and their deals. At heart, he's a practical and pragmatic lawyer who isn't interested in point-scoring or grandstanding.

He gives clients genuine personal commitment, common sense born of experience, and a lot of energy.

Experience

Manufacturing

Regularly acting for foreign-owned, particularly North American, manufacturing clients on their European transactions. Recent examples include Dover Corporation, A O Smith, AFCO and SanMar Corporation. Stuart helps to translate normal US transactional practices into European terms and, drawing on his experience of acting for many industrial clients, provides commercially relevant legal due diligence and risk assessment.

Stuart is head of our Automotive Group and advises numerous automotive companies on their business affairs including Ford Motor Company, Mercedes- Benz, Magna, Johnson Controls, TRW, Williams F1 and Peugeot. Stuart is deeply involved in the automotive sector and uses his experience to get to grips with the key aspects of transactions straight away.

Technology

Capitalising on the firm's market leading IP practice to offer a mixture of transaction savvy and technical strength in depth. Stuart has acted for well-established technology companies such as ADP, Misys and Iris Software, as well as global telco's such as AT&T.

Stuart has also advised companies during their initial growth phase on equity funding and other investments. The clients are not publicly known but include online media and medical software companies. Increasingly there is an overlap with Stuart's automotive experience as clients push into the connected vehicle space.
