Real Estate team advises Inspired Villages on integrated retirement community development at St. Martin's Park in Stamford
Our Real Estate team has advised Inspired Villages, a leading developer and operator of integrated retirement communities, on the acquisition of a development site in Stamford which will deliver 150 new later living units together with high quality amenity space for its residents.
The site is currently owned by South Kesteven District Council and the Burghley Estate and will form part of the planned mixed-use development to be known as St. Martin's Park. In addition to the Inspired Villages scheme, St. Martin's Park will feature commercial and mixed-use elements to be delivered by the Burghley Estate and a range of residential properties, including affordable homes to be delivered by Morris Homes, plus areas of green and open space.
Shaun Whelan, Development Director for Inspired Villages commented; "The need for more age-appropriate housing for over 65s in the UK is significant. We currently operate nine integrated retirement communities in the UK with a further two opening later this year. We will use all our experience and knowledge to ensure that when complete, the village in Stamford is a vibrant and thriving space that positively impacts on the lives of residents and the wider community."
Gowling WLG's advisory team was led by Partner, Dominic Morris and Principal Associate, Jimmy Wheeler, with support from colleagues across the firm.
Dominic Morris, Partner and Head of Senior Living at Gowling WLG, said: "This is a significant deal which has been several years in the making and has utilised our specialist Living and mixed-use experience across the firm. This is an exciting development which will provide much needed specialist housing for older people and more broadly much needed housing stock for the area. We look forward to our continued involvement in the scheme and seeing the project progress."
