Thomas J. Timmins named leader of Gowling WLG's Energy Group in Canada
Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that partner Thomas J. Timmins has been appointed leader of the firm's Energy Group in Canada.
The Toronto-based Timmins is considered one of Canada's top energy and projects lawyers and has led on a number of the firm's most significant power sector mandates. These include major Canadian and international generation, distribution and transmission sector transactions, as well as key advisory roles for utilities, government agencies and system operators.
Timmins has served as head of the firm's Global Renewable Energy Group since 2010 and works closely with his Gowling WLG colleagues in Canada and around the world to leverage the strength of the firm's diverse and highly specialized energy team in order to help clients succeed.

As a senior energy practitioner, Timmins advises project developers, investors and government agencies on energy project development, distributed energy resource integration, emergent capacity, storage and demand-response technology projects. He is also regularly engaged as counsel on complex project planning and procurement initiatives.
A recent past chair of the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA), Timmins is also an adjunct professor at the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law, a member of Gowling WLG's Diversity and Inclusion Committee and a frequent conference speaker and course instructor on energy, infrastructure and PPP matters.
In his role as Canadian energy head, Timmins will co-lead Gowling WLG's Global Energy Group alongside UK partner Jonathan Brufal.
