Pierre Pilote is the chair of Gowling WLG’s Specialized Practices Department and a member of the firm’s National Management Committee. He is also leader of the firm’s Public Policy & Government Affairs Practice Group and France country desk, and previously served as managing partner of the firm’s Montréal office.
A member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréées (CRHA), Pierre focuses his practice on employment law and labour relations, primarily acting as an advocate for employers in the private and public sectors during collective agreement negotiations. His career highlights include serving as chief negotiator for the Québec government in negotiations with more than 500,000 workers, resulting in a five-year negotiated agreement.
Pierre complements his employment and labour practice with extensive knowledge of government administration, providing strategic public affairs counsel to private companies and public bodies alike. He has previously served as a senior advisor to the Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, the President of the Treasury Board, and the Minister of Finance of Canada.
Outside of his practice, Pierre serves on the board of directors of several public and private organizations, including Montréal International and Inno-Centre. He has also been designated by the Québec Ministry of Justice and the Office des professions to serve as an advisor to the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
