Chris Macaulay

Chris Macaulay is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, practising in the Advocacy Group. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration across a wide array of industries. Chris has successfully handled disputes relating to construction and infrastructure, professional liability (including the defence of regulated health care professionals, private security officers, and corporate directors), product liability, and jurisdictional issues.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Chris acted as in-house counsel to one of Canada’s largest construction companies, where he provided strategic legal advice to executive and management teams in relation to infrastructure, healthcare, commercial and residential projects across North America. Chris also practiced commercial and insurance litigation at boutique civil litigation firms, gaining experience before all levels of Court in Ontario and numerous tribunals.
Chris’ combination of in-house and private practice experience provides him with a well-rounded insight into his clients’ needs. He prides himself on taking a “big picture” approach to his mandates, and believes that effective advocacy is concise advocacy.
