Darren J. Taylor

Darren Taylor is an experienced partner in Gowling WLG's Calgary office, practising in the areas of commercial real estate and business law.

Having worked in commercial real estate law for more than a decade, Darren possesses significant experience in a variety of real estate transactions, including:

• Acquisitions and dispositions
• Due diligence
• Financing
• Leasing
• Development
• Joint ventures and co-ownerships

Darren is also a member of the firm's national Municipal Law and Expropriation Law groups.

Darren has extensive experience representing both sides of a financing transaction, and has acted for both lenders and borrowers. He has acted on behalf of large institutional lenders, as well as a number of small, private lenders. These financings have been made with respect to a variety of properties and portfolios of properties. However, his focus has been on the borrower side of a transaction and he is well-equipped to advise owners and borrowers.

Beyond transactions strictly related to real estate, Darren also advises clients on general business transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions of businesses, and structuring business transactions.
