Elie Khoury

Elie Khoury is an associate in the Montreal office of Gowling WLG. His practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy matters. He advises on a wide range of issues related to the reorganization of financially distressed companies, asset realization, and the exercise of remedies under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
He regularly represents insolvent companies, financial institutions, trustees, controllers, administrators, and purchasers of assets in transactions and litigation arising from financial distress. He is involved in complex legal proceedings as well as strategic mandates related to mergers and acquisitions involving companies undergoing restructuring.
Elie practises law in English and French and is fluent in Arabic. He is known for his diligence, professionalism and excellent client service.
Before joining Gowling WLG, Elie practised at a large international law firm, where he acquired significant transactional experience, as well as at a leading national law firm in Montreal. He advised a diverse range of clients, particularly in the technology, energy, construction and financial services sectors. His broad experience allows him to take a strategic and pragmatic approach to cases related to security realization, the protection of creditors’ rights and the management of complex insolvency situations.
He holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from Université de Montréal and is currently completing a Juris Doctor of common law at the same institution. He also holds a Master of Science from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science from the Université de Montréal. This multidisciplinary background strengthens his legal analysis skills and understanding of complex commercial issues.
