Emily is a dedicated and effective problem-solver. A partner in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office, Emily practises in the areas of commercial and regulatory litigation and professional liability defence. She represents her clients at all levels of court in Alberta, in administrative tribunals, and in alternative dispute resolution.
Emily's expertise spans advocacy for corporate clients in disputes related to energy, construction, product liability, and corporate crime, alongside regulatory and administrative practices covering medical and health care professions defence, expropriation, and the environment.
Emily is an empathetic, trusted adviser, and loyal advocate for her clients, with her emphasis on finding practical solutions to complex legal issues. She is recognized by The Best Lawyers Canada 2025 and 2026 for her commercial litigation practice, and The Best Lawyers Canada 2026 for her medical negligence practice.
Emily gives back to the profession and her community as a vice-chair of Gowling WLG’s pro bono program, and as a member of the Law Society of Alberta Conduct Committee Panel. Emily volunteers with Pro Bono Law Alberta’s King’s Bench Amicus Program, which provides free legal advice and court assistance to low-income litigants. Emily also leads the Firm’s TrueID Program, providing free notary services to people seeking to change their names and gender markers on their government-issued identification.
