Evan Matthews

Evan Matthews is an associate in Gowling WLG's Calgary office, with a practice focused on corporate commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and private equity.

Evan advises clients on a range of complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions of both public and private companies, public and private financings (debt and equity), exchange listing and compliance matters and corporate governance matters.

He received his JD from the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law in 2023. In 1L, Evan volunteered for the Elementary School Mock Trial Project with Pro Bono Students Canada and with Student Legal Assistance. He also acted as the VP Finance of the Environmental Law Society in 2L and 3L. Evan worked as a research assistant for several professors during law school and also worked as a teaching assistant for the Foundations 1 1L course in 3L.

Prior to law school, Evan received his bachelor of commerce with distinction in supply chain management from the University of Calgary, Haskayne School of Business.
