Philippe Guay is an associate at Gowling WLG and a member of the Restructuring & Insolvency and the Financial Institutions & Service groups. Based in Montreal, his practice encompasses a broad range of banking, restructuring and business law related areas.
He acts for both lenders and borrowers in bilateral and syndicated financings, asset-based loan transactions, as well as term and revolving facilities. He also assists secured and unsecured creditors in insolvency matters, including for security realization and distressed acquisitions.
He earned a juris doctor and a bachelor of civil law from McGill University. He also holds a bachelor of arts from McGill University. He was the recipient of The Yoine Goldstein Book Prize in Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law in 2023.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Philippe worked as a student-at-law at a boutique firm that specializes in litigation and arbitration. He also served as the special assistant to a federal member of Parliament for several years and was previously seconded to the legal department of one of Canada's largest financial institutions.
