Ryan Amaral is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office.
Ryan received his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law in 2023. During law school, Ryan worked as a research assistant focused on Canadian and American securities regulations and fintech law & policy with a particular emphasis on Exchange Traded Funds and the impact of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) trends on investor behaviour and decision making.
He also acted as the Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Law Student Committee (Alberta South Section), Vice President of the University of Calgary Business Law Association and as a Student Ambassador for the Faculty of Law.
Prior to law school, Ryan completed his Bachelor of Commerce in Business Economics and Law at the University of Alberta in 2019, while also completing a summer exchange program at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Ryan was involved extensively with the University and broader Edmonton community, acting in various professional and volunteer roles with the City of Edmonton, University of Alberta, Alberta School of Business, Edmonton Community Legal Centre and Correctional Services of Canada.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Ryan worked in a market research position at a multinational commercial real estate firm.
