Tom Collins

Tom Collins is an associate litigator in the Advocacy Department of Gowling WLG’s Toronto office. His practice focuses on professional liability, as well as complex infrastructure and environmental disputes. He also has experience with complex commercial litigation, defamation, white collar defence and regulatory work.
Tom practises across diverse industries, including engineering, construction, energy, transit, transportation and health care. He represents a broad range of public and private clients, including municipalities, insurers, lenders, developers, owners, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, designers, consultants and more.
Known for his creative and pragmatic approach, Tom helps clients navigate strategic and value-driven solutions. He has prosecuted and defended claims involving negligence, breach of contract, and urgent injunctive relief, securing numerous favorable settlements for clients in both plaintiff and defendant roles.
Tom obtained his law degree from the University of Toronto, where he was awarded the 2020 Patricia Julia Myhal Scholarship for Excellence in Legal Writing. Tom and his team also won the 2019 Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot.
