Anne Tardif

Anne Tardif is a litigation partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. Fluently bilingual, Anne represents individuals, professionals, private companies and public entities in both English and French. Anne's litigation practice cuts across multiple areas, including commercial litigation, public law, nuclear, tax, procurement, complex construction and constitutional law. Anne also represents health professionals in medical defence litigation and professional disciplinary proceedings.

Anne has been distinguished by The Best Lawyers in Canada as one of Canada's top commercial litigators — including being named "Lawyer of the Year" (2026) for Corporate and Commercial Litigation in Ottawa —and recognized as a Rising Star by Lexpert. She has argued before the Supreme Court of Canada and before all levels of court in Alberta and Ontario, as well as the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Tax Court of Canada. Anne has represented clients in arbitrations and before administrative and regulatory tribunals, including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board.

Anne started her career clerking for the Honourable Michel Bastarache at the Supreme Court of Canada. She joined Gowling WLG in 2017, after litigating with a boutique litigation firm for many years.

Anne is regularly asked to speak on issues of commercial and public law. She taught trial advocacy at the University of Ottawa for many years. She is a member of Gowling’s Management Committee for the Ottawa office, and has been appointed by the Law Society of Ontario to the Civil Rules Committee. In her spare time, she is the President of the Club Mont Sainte Marie alpine ski racing club.
