Aweis Osman practises in Gowling WLG's Advocacy Group. He has acted as counsel on a range commercial and corporate matters including disputes involving environmental liability, infrastructure, real estate, shareholder agreements and professional liability.
Called to the Bar in Ontario and British Columbia, Aweis appears before courts, as well as arbitration and administrative tribunals. He has earned the trust of many of his clients through his measured approach and creativity in resolving disputes. His writing is featured in the Global Arbitration Review, Transnational Dispute Management, Advocates Quarterly and the Energy Law Journal, among others.
In addition to his legal practice, Aweis is committed to community and public engagement. He serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Club of Ottawa, and had the honour of serving as its past president, promoting dialogue on issues of national importance. He is also a member of the firms Africa Group, leading strategies to foster trade and investment between Canada and Sub-Saharan Africa.
