Elizabeth Kurz

Elizabeth Kurz joined Gowling WLG's Advocacy Group as an associate in 2018. Her practice focuses on complex commercial and civil litigation disputes.
Elizabeth represents clients in disputes involving commercial contracts, shareholders, construction, infrastructure, public-private partnerships (P3s), and professional liability. Elizabeth has represented a wide range of clients in disputes, including banks, mass transit providers, municipalities, engineers, cost consultants, mining companies, and facility service providers.
Elizabeth has served as counsel at all levels of Ontario courts, as well as in private arbitrations. Whenever possible, Elizabeth achieves efficient and common-sense results for her clients through negotiations, settlement conferences, and mediations.
In 2021, Elizabeth authored the chapter on Rule 76, Simplified Procedure, in Civil Procedure and Practice in Ontario (CPPO), a textbook published by CanLII and written by leading litigators and experts in Ontario civil procedure. She donates her time as a volunteer lawyer with Pro Bono Ontario's free legal advice hotline.
Elizabeth completed her law degree at the University of Toronto, where she was heavily involved in clinical work. She was also the executive editor of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review, and a research assistant to two professors.
