
Bio
Emily Keeping is an articling student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office.
Emily completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa in the English Common Law Section, with a concentration in Dispute Resolution and Professionalism. During her studies, Emily volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada as a team lead with Reach Legal Services: Client Intake and Services Initiative. In this role, she conducted virtual intake meetings with people living with diverse disabilities and provided referrals to community legal services including legal clinics, legal aid and legal professionals. She also served as the vice-president (English) for the Common Law Student Society, where she advocated for the needs of the student body with the faculty.
Prior to entering law school, Emily spent several years working in the service industry where she learned to thrive in fast-paced environments and adapt to rapidly changing situations. She closely communicated with her team to ensure their success while making sure customers needs were being met.
Raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, Emily brings the province’s deep-rooted values of community and hard work to everything she does. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and following all things women’s sports.
