Esther Kim is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Group.
Esther has experience helping clients secure and enforce their intellectual property. During her articling term with Gowling WLG, Esther was seconded to a large Canadian financial institution, where she assisted on a range of business, technology, and intellectual property matters.
Esther completed her JD at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she focused her studies in intellectual property law. During her legal studies, Esther volunteered as a senior clinic fellow with the IP Osgoode Innovation Clinic. There, she assisted start-up businesses with commercializing their intellectual property.
In her third year of law school, she participated in Osgoode's Intellectual Property & Technology Intensive Program, and worked with an in-house legal team at a multinational pharmaceutical company. Esther also served as president of the Intellectual Property Society of Osgoode, and was an executive member of Mock Trial, Osgoode's annual variety show.
Esther also worked as a law student at a boutique IP firm, where she assisted in various transactional and advocacy matters, as well as patent and trademark prosecution.
Prior to law school, Esther obtained a BSc (Honours) in Life Sciences from McMaster University.
