Jason L. Yang

Jason is a registered patent agent in Canada and a qualified patent attorney in China, with more than ten years of experience in patent drafting, prosecution, validity, and infringement matters. He advises clients across a broad range of technology fields, with particular experience in computer, artificial intelligence, electronics, semiconductors, telecommunications, and other technology-related areas.

Before entering the patent profession, Jason worked as an R&D engineer in mechatronics. That background gives him a practical understanding of complex technologies and enables him to work comfortably across a wide range of disciplines.

Jason has substantial experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and global filing strategy, and is known for approaching patent protection with careful attention to both legal and commercial considerations. He works with clients ranging from multinational corporations to individual inventors, and his dedication to client service earned him recognition as an MIP Rising Star from 2022 to 2025.

Based in Gowling WLG’s Vancouver office, Jason advises clients on patent matters with both Canadian and international dimensions.
