Kathryn Chadwick

Kathryn Chadwick is an associate in Gowling WLG's Montreal office, practising in Indigenous law.

Kathryn completed a joint program at McGill University to obtain a double Bachelor of Laws (BCL/JD) and Master of Social Work (MSW). With a keen interest in working with Aboriginal communities, she has contributed to a research and evaluation project mandated by a First Nations consortium based in Alberta. She also wrote her thesis on the negotiation of self-government agreements between the Government of Canada and Indigenous communities, collaborating with a First Nation in the course of negotiations.

During her academic career, Kathryn also led the Mental Health and Well-being Committee of the McGill Law Students' Association and completed several internships, including at a mental health clinic, a non-profit community organization, a shelter, and at the Montréal Legal Aid office. During these internships she conducted legal research, assisted clients in accessing public health and social service programs, and provided psychosocial and legal education.

Prior to undertaking her Bachelor of Laws and Master of Social Work, Kathryn worked for the Government of Ontario for two years, where she developed government policy related to e-health and mental health, working with stakeholders in the health care community. Kathryn also holds a Bachelor of Honours in Biology from Queen's University.
