Kelly Morris is counsel in Gowling WLG’s Regulatory Practice Group, where she advises insurance industry clients on the corporate, regulatory, and compliance frameworks that shape their operations in Canada. Her clients include domestic and foreign insurers, reinsurers, banks, brokers, agents, adjusters, warranty providers, third-party administrators, and other insurance intermediaries.
With a sophisticated command of the regulatory environment in which insurance businesses operate, Kelly advises on all aspects of her clients’ businesses, with extensive experience spanning the incorporation, organization, licensing and governance of insurers, brokers, agents and adjusters. Her work includes Canadian market conduct, regulatory, licensing and compliance requirements; distribution, outsourcing and telemarketing arrangements; acquisitions of insurance companies and agencies; transfers of books of business; and the withdrawal and wind-up of insurers,
Kelly also advises on compliance with federal and provincial privacy laws, and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. She regularly assists industry participants with the preparation of insurance policies and fulfilment documents and advises with respect to marketing and promotional materials and the issuance and distribution of near-insurance products, including warranties.
