Sean Gomes

Sean Gomes is a partner in Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region office. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, financings, technology matters and advising emerging and growth-stage companies. Sean works collaboratively with his clients, providing practical, business-oriented advice aimed at achieving their commercial objectives. Sean has more than two decades of experience guiding businesses through every stage of their growth, from incorporation and early-stage financing to strategic exits.

Sean's clients include software and technology companies, agri-tech businesses, life sciences and healthcare companies, advanced manufacturers and industrial suppliers, as well as entrepreneurs, investors and strategic acquirers.

Sean's mergers and acquisitions work includes domestic and cross-border transactions involving private companies, including the sale of founder-owned and technology businesses to U.S. and international strategic buyers, and acquisition programmes for buyers growing through multiple acquisitions. Financings include seed, venture capital and later-stage equity financings, and debt financings. Technology work includes technology contracting, licensing and terms of use. Corporate work includes corporate reorganisations and ongoing general corporate advice.

Sean regularly advises entrepreneurs and startup companies as their businesses grow, on matters including incorporation, shareholders' agreements, restricted share arrangements, funding and financing, employee stock option and incentive plans, and other legal issues affecting early-stage businesses.
