Based in the UAE, Simon has a wealth of experience advising private and government sector clients on a wide range of cross-border corporate and projects transactions across the Middle East and North Africa region. Simon previously worked as a corporate/M&A lawyer at international and US law firms in London.
Simon's practice focuses on cross-border M&A, investments, joint ventures and corporate structuring/re-organisations, particularly in the energy & infrastructure and tech sectors.
Simon has experience of advising the government sector, tech companies, multi-national corporations, regional and international investment funds and ultra-high net worth individuals on a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions across the MENA region.
Simon's recent corporate experience includes advising abrdn Investcorp Infrastructure Partners (a GCC-based sustainability fund) on their acquisition of interests in multiple GCC-based infrastructure assets. Simon has also led on advising Strategic Development Fund on numerous strategic cross-border investments and related UAE-based joint ventures in the technology/advanced manufacturing sector.
Simon has significant experience in the energy infrastructure sector, advising on sponsor-side matters on P3 and private projects in the Middle East and Africa region, acting for and also being involved in acting for government authorities focusing on the corporate aspects of such transactions (including sponsor shareholders' and consortium arrangements). He has recently advised Etihad Water and Electricity Company (formerly FEWA), Almar Water, Kansai Electric Corporation and other multinationals in connection with MENA PPP projects and other corporate transactions.
