Amanda M. Estabrooks is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. She is a civil litigator with a primary focus on estate administration and estate litigation.
Amanda specializes in advancing and defending will challenges, including disputes over mental capacity, undue influence and will interpretation; disputes arising from the removal or replacement of estate trustees; guardianship applications; and defending and challenging passing of accounts of trustees, executors, guardians and attorneys under powers of attorney. She also advises clients in regards to complaints by beneficiaries about the administration of an estate, including the distribution of money and/or other assets, issues raised by family members or others about the use or misuse of a power of attorney for property or personal care, and disputes over compensation claimed by an estate trustee or attorney under a power of attorney.
Amanda is a trusted advisor to her clients. Her commitment and honesty ensure her clients’ cases are managed and advanced with the utmost care and consideration.
Amanda is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa and a former Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the County of Carleton Law Association.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Amanda worked with a well-known boutique litigation firm in Ottawa where she gained extensive experience in important and complex civil litigation cases, including jury and non-jury trials and appeals. She has appeared at all levels of court, including the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Amanda is fluently bilingual and practices in both French and English.
