Amber (she/her) is an associate lawyer, practising in Commercial Litigation within the broader Advocacy Group of Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region office.
Amber's practice includes a wide variety of commercial matters, with an emphasis on Estates and Trusts Litigation (Private Client Services), Product Liability Litigation, and Real Estate Litigation (including property boundary disputes). Amber is also experienced in recovery services and contract disputes. Amber assists a wide range of clients, from private clients to multinational businesses, across diverse sectors, including the tech, automotive, and product manufacturing sectors.
Amber frequently represents her clients in Court and has successfully represented clients at a variety of levels of Court and administrative bodies, including the Court of Appeal and the Real Estate Commission of Ontario (RECO). She takes a holistic approach in assisting clients in finding creative resolutions to contentious legal issues.
Amber is proud to be active within the Firm. Amber has sat on the Student Committee for the past five years, and is excited about working with law students and junior lawyers as they navigate through their first years of practice. Amber is also an active member of her local Momentum Committee, a DEI initiative, and helped to host Gowling WLG Waterloo Region’s first ever drag show and bingo in 2025!
Amber successfully completed a secondment at a leading American tech company in 2021, where she assisted the Global Compliance department with investigations and internal concerns.
Outside of the office, Amber serves as the Marketing Chair for the Young Lawyers – Product Liability Division at the Defence Research Institute (DRI), and the Vice Chair of DRI for Life, an international network of defence lawyers, where she has been active for several years. She also serves on the Young Lawyers Steering Committee for DRI. In 2025, Amber co-presented at the Young Lawyers’ Seminar in New Orleans, Louisiana. Amber is also an active member of the Ontario Bar Association (OBA), and has served on various Committees, including Policy and Public Affairs, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, Insurance, and OBA’s Council. She has also previously sat on the Board of a local political Provincial Riding Association, and has been a political volunteer at both the provincial and federal levels. Amber is also a frequent volunteer at the University of Waterloo, where she speaks at and works with the Legal Studies Society and Women in Pre Law, for local students looking to pursue careers in law.
Prior to joining the team at Gowling WLG, Amber completed her integrated practice placement at a boutique law firm in downtown Toronto, assisting primarily on class action files. As a student, Amber also represented clients at a legal clinic on a pro bono basis. She has appeared before the Landlord and Tenant Board and in Provincial Offences Court.
Amber is a proud member of the third graduating class of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University, where she represented her colleagues as valedictorian for the class of 2018. She is a strong advocate for the Integrated Practice Curriculum and alternative pathways to licencing, and is passionate about access to legal education for students.
Amber is an intersectional feminist, and when she is not in the office, Amber enjoys hiking, reading, vintage shopping, travelling, and building Lego with her family. Her goal is to hike in every province in Canada.
