Bio

Daniel advises FTSE 100 companies, funding institutions, private developers and UK Government bodies on portfolio management, investment, and the real estate elements of corporate restructuring. Between 2023 and 2025 Daniel advised on over 1 billion GBP worth of deals for England and Wales.

Daniel particularly focuses on development strategies in the energy sector and works within Gowling WLG's market leading energy team on finding innovative solutions to renewable energy.

Daniel also supports the real estate practice group in connection with all aspects of commercial development, long term investment and regeneration work (including large scale infrastructure projects in support of UK Government agendas).

Experience

Acting for a renewable investor on its expanding portfolio of BESS (upwards of 16GW) including strategic land acquisitions, project finance (upwards of c. £700 million debt) and general portfolio management.
Acting for an energy developer on its acquisition of the entire shared capital of strategically formed SPVs designed to undertake and complete co-located projects in the northeast of England subject to planning, funding and acquiring estate rights (c. £40 million).
Acting on one of the UK's largest carbon capture projects which involved the redevelopment of land for green hydrogen production and the offshore storage of carbon along the north-east English coastline in support of transporting upwards of 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
Acting for a leading renewable energy developer and investor on its investment in multiple solar developments involving the acquisition of the entire share capital of SPVs holding equitable land interests and service rights (c. £25 million).
Acting for a leading renewable energy developer in connection with the diversification of its market footprint involving the acquisition and development of synchronous condensers (£340 million), co-located projects (BESS and solar) and the associated post exchange deliverables in readiness for equity raise.
Acting for a renewable energy investor and developer in connection with its group restructure, acquisition and subsequent equity raise of project rights for the construction and operation of biogas facilities in England.
Acting for a UK REIT on a c.£925 million portfolio acquisition, regear and subsequent subsale of 32 UK properties (involving shipping centres, office buildings and development projects).
