Heting Xu

Heting Xu is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Montréal office, and a member of the Cyber Security & Data Protection Group. As part of her practice, Heting advises clients on how to navigate the complexities of data protection legislation.

Before joining Gowling WLG, Heting worked at one of the largest regional law firms in Québec, she helped clients comply with Canadian and Québec data protection laws and deal with cyber security incidents.

She also worked as a research and teaching assistant for a university professor and completed several research and observation clerkships with Superior Court judges in Montréal.

In addition to her law practice, Heting is very active in Montréal’s Chinese community, and has been master of ceremonies for various cultural and philanthropic events. She also plays a key role in the Young Chinese Professionals Association (YCPA), a Montréal organization dedicated to uniting, empowering and propelling young Asian professionals and entrepreneurs.

She practises law in French and English, in addition to speaking fluent Mandarin and Spanish.
