Justin M. Tremblay is a bilingual senior associate lawyer in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, recognized for his depth of experience in civil, commercial, and administrative litigation.
Corporate and individual clients rely on Justin for strategic, practical guidance in high-stakes civil and commercial disputes. His work focuses on contractual and shareholder litigation, compensation and damages claims, and complex multi-party matters arising in the construction and commercial real estate sectors. He also maintains a targeted practice in estate and trust litigation, defamation, financing, crypto-asset disputes, and tax litigation before the Canada Revenue Agency. In addition, he advises municipal authorities and has acted as both prosecutor and counsel in Provincial Offences Act proceedings.
Justin has appeared successfully before various levels of court, including the Small Claims Court, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Federal Court of Canada, as well as numerous administrative and regulatory bodies.
He has acted on significant enforcement and regulatory matters, regularly managing litigation and compliance files for national self-regulatory organizations, banking institutions, and publicly listed entities. His disciplined and meticulous approach has resulted in favourable—and often substantial—settlements for his clients, particularly in high-stakes investigations and hearings.
Beyond litigation, Justin advises clients on a full range of corporate and commercial issues, including incorporation, restructuring, corporate governance, and shareholder and partnership disputes. With a strong business and financial background, he offers guidance that aligns legal strategy with long-term commercial objectives.
Client experience remains central to Justin’s practice. He emphasizes early case assessment, consistent and clear reporting, effective budgeting, and vigorous representation. His approach is grounded in accessibility, practicality, and a genuine commitment to advancing and protecting his clients’ long-term interests.
Before joining Gowling WLG, Justin worked with the Department of Justice and volunteered with organizations supporting financially vulnerable individuals. These experiences continue to inform his grounded judgment and his commitment to client-focused advocacy.
Justin holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Commerce, along with certifications in financial trading, private equity, and venture capital.
