Melissa Prado is a partner within the Regulatory Services Group and co-leads the Insurance and Reinsurance practice. With over a decade of experience advising domestic and international insurers, reinsurers, financial institutions, and intermediaries, Melissa is recognized as a leading insurance transactional and regulatory lawyer.
Melissa is a trusted counsel to domestic and foreign insurers, reinsurers, banks, and insurance intermediaries—advising on the full continuum of regulatory and corporate matters. Her work includes insurer and intermediary formations and licensing, acquisitions and divestitures, reinsurance arrangements, distribution arrangements, captive insurer formations, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and transformative transactions involving insurance regulated entities.
Melissa has also developed strong working relationships with federal, provincial, and territorial insurance regulators and industry organizations across Canada, enabling her to deliver practical, well-informed and commercially focused advice to clients. Her practice is distinguished by its combination of sophisticated transactional capability and deep regulatory insight, allowing her to guide clients through matters that sit at the intersection of corporate strategy and regulation.
