Siân Williams has over 17 years' experience advising on all aspects of pensions law and regulation. She provides clear, practical advice to trustee and employer clients, drawing on a career that spans both private practice and the public sector.
Siân spent the first ten years of her career in private practice, advising trustees and employers of all shapes and sizes on a broad range of pensions issues, from scheme documentation and benefit changes to member disputes and regulatory compliance. She then joined the legal team at The Pensions Regulator (TPR), where she remained until December 2023. During her time at the Regulator, Siân developed deep expertise in regulatory oversight, supervision of pension schemes, Master Trust regulation, and government policy on trustee governance and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). She was also closely involved in the development of TPR's Codes of Practice, including drafting the General Code.
Since joining Gowling WLG, Siân brings her unique combination of private practice and regulatory experience to bear for her clients. Her insider understanding of how the Regulator approaches supervision and enforcement enables her to provide informed, strategic advice on regulatory risk and compliance. Siân is particularly well placed to advise clients on engagement with TPR, helping them to navigate the regulatory landscape with confidence.
