Gowling WLG is pleased to welcome commercial litigator Anne Tardif as a partner in its Ottawa office.

Tardif, who was previously a partner at CazaSaikaley, has a broad litigation practice that encompasses a wide range of areas, including commercial and procurement matters, environmental claims, shareholder disputes, professional liability, and construction, tax, agricultural, municipal and public law. Fluently bilingual, Tardif represents clients in both English and French.

As part of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group, Tardif will divide her time between general commercial litigation matters and the firm’s Canadian Medical Protective Association Provincial Counsel Group.

Tardif has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and Alberta, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal, the Tax Court of Canada, and several administrative tribunals, including the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board and the Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Tribunal. She has also represented clients in a number of commercial arbitrations.

“We’re delighted that Anne has joined our firm-wide litigation team,” said Peter Lukasiewicz, CEO of Gowling WLG Canada. “With her extensive experience as a litigator, she is ideally positioned to advise our clients on litigation risk and advocate their position in court.”

Outside of her practice, Tardif teaches trial advocacy at the University of Ottawa, and regularly serves as a judge at the annual Laskin constitutional-administrative moot court competition. She is also an active member of The Advocates’ Society, the County of Carleton Law Association and the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (Association of French Speaking Jurists of Ontario).

Prior to entering private practice, Tardif clerked for the Honourable Michel Bastarache at the Supreme Court of Canada.

With more than 1,400 legal professionals in 19 cities across Canada, the U.K., Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Gowling WLG delivers comprehensive, strategic solutions that address a broad range of litigation matters — both in the courtroom and through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution — so that clients can achieve their desired results as quickly as possible. Learn more
