An enthusiastic group from Gowling WLG along with some special guests were thrilled to open the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) today in honour of the firm’s launch earlier this week.
Gowling WLG, which launched on Monday, Feb. 22, is a new international law firm created by the combination of Gowlings, a leading Canadian law firm, and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co, a leading U.K.-based international law firm.
The new firm is home to more than 1,500 legal professionals in 18 cities around the globe, and its launch marks the first time ever that a Canadian law firm has co-led an international combination. Gowling WLG will provide clients with strategic legal advice and in-depth expertise in key global sectors — such as energy, financial services, infrastructure, life sciences, natural resources, real estate and tech — across a range of areas, including capital markets.
The group from Gowling WLG was joined by several distinguished guests, including Kevin McGurgan, British Consul General and Director-General for U.K. Trade and Investment in Toronto, James Dodds, Vice President of TD Bank Group, Simon Fish, General Counsel of BMO Financial Group, and Stephen Scholtz, Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of CIBC.
