Alan James

Alan James is a partner in the Gowling WLG Toronto office and past co-leader of the firm's global Tech Group. He practices in corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on private equity and venture capital investments in technology companies and strategic transactions relating to the development, acquisition, licensing and use of technology.

Alan's clients include investment funds and corporations engaged in cross-border investment transactions and acquisitions involving technology companies as well as financial institutions and FinTech service providers that use or develop emerging technologies. He also works with a number of investment fund managers to form new investment funds of all types, including venture capital funds, infrastructure funds and real estate funds and frequently represents institutional and strategic investors in connection with their fund investments.
