Livia Aumand

Livia Aumand, an associate in the Ottawa office, practises intellectual property litigation. She handles complex patent litigation, including applications under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, patent impeachment actions and patent infringement actions. Livia also works to assist innovative pharmaceutical companies in defending against claims brought pursuant to section 8 of the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. She has acted as counsel for Eli Lilly, Sanofi-Aventis, Novartis, F. Hoffmann-LaRoche, and others. 

Livia writes frequently on intellectual property issues. She is also an executive editor of the firm's PharmaFlash Newsletter.

Livia has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law, teaching the Introduction to Intellectual Property Law course. She also takes part in pro bono initiatives, including acting as a volunteer lawyer with Law Help Ontario and the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program.

Prior to law, Livia completed her M.Sc. in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Ottawa. From 2008-2009, she clerked for the Honourable Chief Justice John Richard of the Federal Court of Appeal. She holds degrees in law from the University of Ottawa (2008) and the University of Oxford (2010). She is also studying to become a licensed patent agent.
