Seminar
21 November 2024
09:00-13:30
This half-day seminar will provide a deep-dive into some specific areas of the Procurement Act 2023, a refresher on key boilerplate clauses and an update on the vast changes to employment law being proposed by the Government. The event also offers the opportunity to network and share opinions and experiences with senior in-house counsel peers.
When it goes live on 24 February 2025, the Procurement Act 2023 will mark the most radical shake-up of our procurement rulebook for thirty years - bringing with it the need for procurers to become familiar with new procedural concepts and updated ways of working. In our first session, Alexi Markham and Chris Brennan will be visiting two aspects of the Act which particularly stand out: first, the much-increased requirements around transparency in procurements and publication of contract and performance data; and second, the new approach to supplier debrief in the form of assessment summaries.
In the second session on the Procurement Act 2023 Patrick Arben and Ana Lelliott will be looking at the way in which it has codified and consolidated the remedies regime - what has changed and what has stayed the same. We will also be looking at the new exclusion and debarment regime under the Act, how it is designed to operate, the extent to which it will be used successfully and what suppliers can do if they find themselves on the debarment list.
Much time is saved relying on tried and tested boilerplate clauses in organisational templates but how often do you check how robust they are? Ali Richards will discuss some of the key boilerplate clauses found in public contracts, what their point is and why it's important to pay attention to them.
In the biggest planned change in employment law for half a century, described by the new Labour Government as "the biggest upgrade to workers' rights in a generation", we have been promised a draft Equality (Race and Disability Bill) in addition to the Employment Rights Bill published on 10 October. During this session Kiran Gosal will discuss what these Bills and other changes might mean for the world of work, your organisation, and your workforce.
