ThinkHouse Spring Seminar - Birmingham

Seminar

We are thrilled to invite you to our Spring Seminar 2024. This will be taking place on the 7 March in our Two Snowhill Birmingham office and 14 March in our 4 More London office.

Session one - Trade Secrets: what are they and how can they plug the gaps in your IP protection?

Trade secrets used to be obscure – look at a definition of "intellectual property" in a contract and trade secrets will be a long way down and may not appear at all. But trade secrets are now becoming increasingly important to businesses - driven by new technologies, the increasing importance of data, and the increasingly competitive and sometimes tense geopolitical landscape. But what are they exactly? And how can they be used as part of an overall effective IP strategy? This session will make sure you can confidently understand and advise your business on how trade secrets can be used to protect a business's intangible assets.

Session two - Data Protection Refresher

Data protection legislation and guidance has developed significantly since GDPR was introduced in 2018. This session aims to equip a general in-house counsel with the core information to help issue-spot and guide the business to achieve GDPR compliance. We will cover headlines on: records of processing, privacy notices, data sharing, DPIAs and breach response and notification.

Session three - Competition law update

This session will outline recent developments in UK competition law, including considering resale price maintenance and non-compete provisions in the context of commercial agreements, and exploring the CMA's guidance on how competitors can collaborate in the context of environmental sustainability agreements.

Session four - Commercial Contract Law Update

This is our annual contract law review picking out the cases and changes in law that impact the drafting and interpretation of contracts. Our double headed session brings both a non-contentious and contentious perspective. It is essential for all lawyers who deal with B2B contracts, whether drafting them or dealing with disputes.
