Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that partners Glenn Harvey-McKean and Jean-François Pelland have joined the firm's Medical Defence & Health Law and Corporate Finance groups, respectively.

Based in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, Glenn Harvey-McKean has nearly 20 years of litigation experience. Prior to joining the firm, he managed a robust practice in Toronto focused on civil and commercial litigation matters, including commercial insurance disputes, coverage issues, property, professional negligence, product liability and major tort litigation. He has extensive trial experience before all courts in Ontario, with specific expertise in conducting private and/or statutorily mandated mediations and arbitrations.

Over the course of his career, Harvey-McKean has provided risk analysis, litigation and advocacy services to corporate and insurance clients in Canada, the United States and offshore. He has also appeared before the Bermuda Supreme Court and Court of Appeal for Bermuda.

Jean-François Pelland has more than 20 years of experience and is based in the firm's Montréal office. He focuses his practice on a range of corporate finance and transactional matters, including institutional, public and private financing, mergers and acquisitions, structuring and tax planning. Pelland regularly acts for issuers, agents and capital pool corporations as lead counsel for listings and public equity financings on the TSX and TSX-V. He also occasionally serves as director or officer of issuers.

Pelland's practice encompasses several sectors, including life sciences, fintech, information technology, videogaming, cleantech, social media, mining and oil and gas exploration. He is particularly effective in leading cross-border transactions.

"Whether defending clients in complex disputes or supervising multifaceted M&A transactions, Glenn and Jean-Francois approach challenges with determination, sophistication and the type of industry know-how that can only come with high-level experience," said Peter Lukasiewicz, CEO of Gowling WLG Canada. "We look forward to them continuing that tradition of superb client service alongside their new colleagues at Gowling WLG."
