Gowling WLG advises Alectra on CDN$607-million Hydro One Brampton acquisition

On February 28, 2017, Alectra Inc. completed its CDN$607-million acquisition of Hydro One Brampton from the Province of Ontario.

Through the acquisition, Alectra became the largest municipally owned electricity utility in Canada based on the total number of customers served, and the second-largest municipally owned utility in North America.

Alectra was formed on January 31, 2017 following the merger of Enersource, Horizon Utilities and PowerStream. Its goal is to increase investments in innovation and technologies to provide better choices and value, both for its customers and its owners.
