A cross-firm team led by corporate partner Neil Hendron and principal associate Sian Dewing, has advised the shareholders of land promoter Gladman Developments Limited ("Gladman") on its £250 million sale to national sustainable housebuilder Barratt Developments.

Gladman operates as a land promoter in the UK identifying attractive land and promoting sites through the planning process. The acquisition combines Barratt's best in class housebuilding operations with Gladman's excellent land sourcing and promotion capabilities, providing greater flexibility for landowners and significantly enhancing Barratt's strategic land credentials.

The legal team advising the shareholders of Gladman Developments was led by corporate partner Neil Hendron and principal associate Sian Dewing, working with corporate partner Gareth Baker, corporate associate Chinedu Onuchukwu and paralegal Annabelle Percy. The corporate team was supported by a cross-firm team including Christopher Stiles (pensions), Alasdair Mckenzie (banking & finance), Elizabeth Emerson, Lee Nuttall, Tom Rank, Helen Hibbert (all tax), Stephen White (specialist real estate), Ben Stansfield, Richard Thurling (both planning), Dan Smith (intellectual property) and Rebecca Jones (employment).

Commenting on the team's role, Neil said: "It has been a pleasure to advise the selling shareholders on such a significant transaction and play a small part in what is the culmination of decades of hard work for Gladman and its shareholders in growing the business to where it is today. The deal was completed to a tight timescale and involved multiple service teams across the firm and we were proud to be a part of its successful delivery."

David Gladman, chairman and founding shareholder of Gladman Developments, added: "I would wholeheartedly recommend Gowling WLG. The firm was able to provide comprehensive legal advice that allowed the transaction to run smoothly and helped to steer us through the process with a minimum of fuss. We valued the firm's excellent support throughout and were really pleased to have Neil and the team working alongside us to complete a deal which will see Gladman enter into its next phase of development, accelerating our growth as the UK's leading land promoter by becoming part of Barratt."
