Our Financial Services and Funds team has advised Atrato Partners Limited on the establishment of a joint venture with a leading global investor to acquire a portfolio of 35 supermarket assets in France and Spain from Carrefour, as part of a sale-and-leaseback transaction valued at approximately €290 million.

The portfolio comprises 32 assets in France, consisting of 26 Carrefour Market supermarkets and six hypermarkets, together with three hypermarkets in Spain. Following completion of the transaction, Carrefour will continue to operate the stores, with the transaction further highlighting Atrato's expertise in the supermarket sector.

The team advising on the transaction was led by Partner Oliver Riley, supported by Associate Jack Qualtrough (Funds), with additional support from Partners Matt Poole (Tax), Guy Stevenson (Regulatory) and Legal Director Angela Rawlins (Banking).

Oliver Riley said: "We were pleased to support Atrato on this significant transaction. The deal brought together a substantial portfolio of retail assets across France and Spain, and it was a pleasure to work alongside Atrato and the wider advisory team to help bring the transaction to a successful completion."
