Leading designer Martin Darbyshire will explain how design and technology can be fused to create beautiful, modern, and practical products that will appeal to heart and mind, using the case study of the ground-breaking Bluebell smart monitoring system for parents and babies.
Martin has been inspiring ground-breaking innovation and forward-thinking strategic design at tangerine since co-founding the company in 1989. Under his stewardship the company has grown into an international design consultancy with offices in the UK, South Korea and Brazil; from which, tangerine exports innovation, strategy and design services to the world’s leading brands, service providers and manufactures. In 2017, tangerine partnered with start-up company Bluebell on a shared equity basis to work with the company to turn their technological system into a brand, family of IoT products and a unique customer experience.
Bluebell's founder, Romi Mathew, will set out the practical aspects of ensuring that a product is not just beautiful, but will work in the commercial world.
As the COO and Co-founder of Connido Ltd, the parent company of start-up Bluebell, Romi has utilised his extensive experience as a data consultant and analyst to innovate a product which is set to revolutionise the parenting market. Romi’s 9 years in the industry saw him working for the NHS as well as PwC, this in conjunction with his experience of being a father (to a wonderful little boy) inspired him to create a new innovation to aid parent wellbeing.
John Coldham, a leading designs lawyer, will discuss practical ways for designers to protect their creativity against copycats, to ensure their investment is not wasted.
Jamie Rowlands, who has spent the last four years in China enforcing designs and other IP for some of the world's leading brands, will also be on hand to offer advice.
