The USMCA - Resetting tri-lateral trade arrangements in North America

30 June 2020

The Agreement between the United States of America, the United Mexican States, and Canada (USMCA), which has been characterized as "NAFTA 2.0," comes into effect on July 1, 2020.

To help your business prepare for the attendant changes to North America’s trade regime, BakerHostetler, Gowling WLG and MGPS cordially invite you to a live webinar featuring a panel of leading trade lawyers representing each signatory nation.

The panel will explore a number of timely topics, including:

  • Changes to intellectual property protection, including heightened protections for copyright, trademarks, patents and trade secrets and an entirely new digital trade chapter
  • Changes in the traditional trade of goods, including rules of origin, categories of products that are most affected, and implications for certificates of origin
  • Rule of origin considerations for importers that have rerouted supply chains through Canada and Mexico in response to U.S.-China Section 301 duties
