About Alfredo Tan 

Alfredo Tan is the first Chief Digital and Innovation Officer for WestJet Airlines, leading an effort to transform the groundbreaking Canadian company into a digital enterprise on the strength of culture and innovation. Alfredo joined WestJet as a former Facebook and Instagram executive in Canada, where he was a founding team member, subsequently helping to launch Facebook and Instagram in the Asia Pacific region.

Alfredo is an industry professor in the strategic management faculty at McMaster University. His lectures focus on digital transformation, organizational leadership and strategy in the EMBA, MBA and 2bcom programs. He is a guest lecturer in the Directors Colleges Innovation Governance program for board directors and a frequent keynote speaker at leading technology, media marketing, academic and aviation conferences across North America and Asia.

Alfredo also sits on the digital advisory board at the World Aviation Festival, University of Waterloo, the Advisory Board on Innovation at McMaster and provides research support for the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Center. He holds a bachelor's degree in forensic science and biology from the University of Toronto, an MBA with a specialization in information systems and technology from McMaster and he is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
